In order to ensure you re purchasing the correct size for your tonneau cover or bed rails you ll want to make sure that your bed is being measured correctly.
How to measure truck bed size for tonneau cover.
Put down the tailgate and stand at the end of the bed.
Extend your measuring tape longways in the center of the bed to the far end up against the bulkhead.
Measure your truck bed length your truck bed length is determined by the distance between the inside of your tailgate and the inside of the bulkhead.
Get the truck bed s length.
When you measure truck bed length you may find that the exact number does not match any lengths listed on our product pages.
Trucks usually come in 2 3 different bed sizes the most common being 5 5 foot 6 5 foot or 8 foot.
Moving along your bed rail extend the measuring tape to the inside edge of the top of your tailgate.
Measure the distance between the bed rails starting from inside to inside of the rail.
The last measurement you will need is the length of the truck bed.
First up bed length.
A lot of people think you need to measure the bed rail caps or something like that but you ll need to just extend your tape.
Record the measurement in inches.
Take your measurement at where the bed ends and the tailgate begins.

Divide the number of inches by 12 to determine the length of your truck bed in feet.
You can do this by simply dividing the number of inches your tape measure will show total inches as well as feet by 12.
This is the first thing you need to know and for some trucks the only thing.
Your new tonneau cover must be an inch or half an inch less the dimensions you get here.
