Many electronic garage doors come with a bypass switch allowing you to override the system and manually lift it open when needed.
How manually open garage door.
This emergency release cord will be attached to the trolley in the center of the garage door.
All electronic or automatic garage doors have a bypass that will allow you to open it manually.
If you have a locked garage the house will generally have the clasp side attached to it while the other side where the locking mechanism goes will attach to the garage itself.
Locate and pull the cord.
With the automatic opener disengaged you can manually open the door.
This becomes necessary when there is a power failure or for some reason you lose your remote.
To manually open your garage you will first need to open any latches or locks on the outside that otherwise keep the door shut.
Holding the handle at the end of the cord pull until the release lever locks.
Grab the bottom of the door and lift it straight up.
The cord usually has a red handle and will hang down from the center rail of the garage door mechanism.
Keep lifting the door until it s open all the way.
To locate the bypass switch look for a red rope hanging down from your garage mechanisms.

Pull the emergency cord to disconnect the door from the garage door opener.
Pulling the cord detaches the garage door from the opener and allows it to open manually.
Get a good grip on the door and lift it straight up so it follows along the trolley track.
