Locks exposed to the elements sometimes collect a lot of dirt.
If you re having problems trying to lock your door your key is stuck or your key is hard to turn in the lock we have the expertise to help.
A key that doesn t turn in the lock could have several causes.
Often a malfunctioning latch assembly or lock mechanism causes the problem.
Check to see that the door striker the spring loaded bolt that latches the door pushes in and springs back easily.
After a long day at work the last thing you want is to come home put your key in the lock and find that it won t turn.
Spray the lock with lubricant to remove dirt and dust.
First off if you can see and interact with the stuck lock button you will be able to address the set screws or twist off rose.

Take note of the type of resistance.
Leave the striker bolt in place.
Many door knob and lockset problems can be corrected before they become so serious that the lockset does not work at all.
More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick.
You may be able to take care of the problem yourself or you may need to call a locksmith for help.
The knob will not turn to retract the stuck door latch.
Flip the key and open the door.
Take the latch and knob off of the door and clean them.

The latch will not retract even when the knob is turned.
Try to open the door while it is shut.
Lubricate the inside of the mechanism if the lock still does not function.
It will come in two pieces.
Spray the door key with a graphite based lubricant.
The door latch is not extended before rotating the knob.
If this method does not work you may need to use a more solvent based lubricant like wd 40 to loosen the dirt.
Slide the key in the lock and tap lightly on the key to lubricate the inside of the lock.
If your key will only go in part way this could still be the same problem or there may be an obstruction in the keyway.
